In this most famous Psalm, I chose the upright shepherd's staff to illustrate the Lord's strong presence and care for us. In the original artwork the staff has been gilded with 23 karat gold leaf, a tradition that calligraphers have used for centuries because it never tarnishes. This is a splendid symbol of the Lord's eternal nature shared with us.
